Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is a small sized and populated Atlantic island that has become a hub of booming tourism, agricultural industries, and fishing. The coastal culture of this Province is one of the major reasons for immigrants to think of building a life in this region.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) gives aspiring candidates an opportunity to receive a provincial nomination through a collection of immigration pathways. This may fast-track the candidate’s path to Canadian Permanent Residence.

The collection of streams target immigrants with business acumen, skilled workers, and young graduates who are fresh from post-secondary education. They are divided into three categories:

PEI Express Entry

Immigrants who are in the ‘Federal Express Entry’ pool are eligible for PEI Express Entry. Aspiring candidates need to express their willingness to live and work in Prince Edward Island. The candidate also must be eligible for one of the ‘federal economic immigration classes’. The province’s current labour needs are also a major factor that influences the selection of the candidates. Only applicants whose skills and experience match the needs will be considered.

PEI Labour Impact

Prince Edward Island’s Labour Impact Streams allows foreign workers and recent graduates to apply for provincial nomination. Applicants who have already been hired by a PEI employer are granted an opportunity to fast-track their path to permanent residency upon receiving PEI PNP. Listed below are the streams that are a part of the program:

  • Skilled Workers Outside Canada
  • Skilled Workers in PEI
  • International Graduate
  • Critical Worker

PEI Business Impact

The Business Impact Stream of the PEI PNP targets individuals who aspire to establish a business in the province with 100% ownership or are willing to invest in an already established PEI business. These candidates can take advantage of the business visa and can obtain a work permit by investing in a PEI business. This provides an opportunity to start a new life in Canada and Prince Edward Island.

Applicants who wish to immigrate to Prince Edward Island via PEI PNP need to create a profile in the province’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Based on their profile, the applicants will be given a score. Highest ranking candidates will be invited to submit an application.

Prince Edward Island participates in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). This program is a result of partnership between the federal government and Canada’s Atlantic provinces. It is an initiative to positively impact economic growth in the region. Newcomers who have obtained a job offer from an employer in the Atlantic region are facilitated by this program.
