Atlantic Immigration Program(FSW)

This program has been designed for skilled working candidates who wish to apply for permanent residency and find employment in any of the four provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador. The program also assists employers to hire qualified candidates for jobs they are unable to fill locally.

How does the program work?

The program was initiated to focus on five major areas to facilitate overall Atlantic Growth: skilled workforce and immigration, innovation, climate change, trade and investment, and infrastructure. In addition to recruiting and retaining global talent, the program aims to support employment growth, create skilled labor in the region, and increase the overall number of jobs

This is an employer driven program so every candidate first receives a job offer. This is usually based on the program requirements and employment needs. After the employee receives the job offer, the employer then connects the candidate to a designated settlement service provider. The service providers help the new immigrant and their family settle in.

What are the eligibility requirements for the program?

There are three major programs that a candidate can apply under:

  • Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)
  • Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)
  • Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP)

For all of these programs the eligibility requirements differ. All of these require a letter stating provincial endorsement, language test and a job offer letter from a designated employer.

Are there other ways to immigrate to Canada?

While the individual Atlantic provinces have been seeking immigrants through their Provincial Nominee Programs, the Atlantic Immigration Program was created to fill in the gaps and needs of local employers and communities.

Other options for immigration to Canada include:

  • Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)
  • Newfoundland And Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)
  • New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)
  • Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
