What is the Canadian Experience Program?

The Canadian Experience Class Program is one of the ways that a candidate who has work experience can apply for permanent residency. Out of the three programs, this one requires skilled workers to have previously worked in Canada for a specific period of time.

The program also uses the CRS to rank eligible candidates; the ones with the most competitive scores receive an invitation to apply for Canadian Permanent residence.

What are the eligibility requirements for the Canadian Experience Class Program?

The most important requirement is that the candidate must have 12 months of full-time or equivalent part time work experience of skilled work in Canada. The work experience should have been acquired inside of the last three years from the date of application.

In addition it also needs to meet specific requirements such as,

• The work experience should have been obtained within 36 months prior to the date of submission of the application.
• The work experience should fall under the NOC COde Skill Levels of 0A or B only
• The work experience should have been lawfully obtained and paid

What documents do I need to apply for the CEC program?

There are several requirements that the applicant must meet including:

1. Language level requirements and test needed for the specific job
2. Proof of skilled work experience of 12 months or more
   • Duration for full time: 30 hours/week for 12 months (1560 hours)
   • Duration for part time: 15 hours/week for 24 months (1560 hours)
3. Proof of legal work experience as a temporary resident

What is the difference between CEC and FSW?

The major difference between the two is that applicants for FSW do not require to have any prior work experience to enter the Express Entry pool. With regards to language eligibility, the CEC program requires candidates from the NOC class of 0 or A to have a CLB 7 level and for a CLB level of 5 for NOC class B. Whereas, for the FSW program all candidates require a CLB level 7.
